Broadway
Railway Station
The Jewel at the Northern End of the Line
Step off the train and into another time. Broadway Station, our northern terminus, is a shining example of what passion, patience and community spirit can achieve. Rebuilt entirely by volunteers, it’s a faithful recreation of the original Great Western Railway station that once welcomed travellers to this picture-perfect Cotswold village.
The first Broadway station opened in 1904 as part of the Honeybourne Line, serving the area until its closure in 1960. Decades later, after tireless campaigning, fundraising and thousands of hours of volunteer labour, the station rose once again - brick by brick - reopening in 2018. Every detail, from the gentle curve of the platforms to the elegant GWR-style canopy, has been crafted to capture the golden age of steam
At the Station
Pause for a moment when you arrive - Broadway Station is the kind of place that makes you slow down and take it all in. Watch locomotives change ends beneath the elegant GWR canopy, breathe in the scent of steam and coal, and listen to the soft chatter of fellow travellers on the platform.
Pop into the station shop for a memento of your journey or enjoy a cuppa and slice of cake from the café as you take in the views across the Cotswold hills. It’s easy to linger here a little longer - there’s something quietly special about this place.
Alight Here For…
Broadway village is just a short stroll from the station - and it’s easy to see why it’s known as the Jewel of the Cotswolds. Its honey-coloured limestone cottages, leafy High Street and independent shops create a timeless charm that feels straight out of a storybook.
Wander into the village for art galleries, tearooms, and boutique shops, or enjoy an uphill walk to Broadway Tower, a striking folly offering sweeping views across several counties. If you’re visiting in summer, you might even catch one of the village’s seasonal festivals or open-air events that fill the streets with music and colour.
