Hayles Abbey Halt
Railway Station
Halfway between Toddington and Winchcombe, Hayles Abbey Halt is one of the smallest - and most atmospheric - stops on the line. Recreated in classic Great Western Railway style, this charming rural halt sits just a short walk from the 13th-century Hailes Abbey, from which it takes its name (though, true to GWR tradition, the spelling differs slightly).
There’s no car parking at the halt, but it’s a perfect spot for walkers and cyclists, with easy access to local footpaths and the Cotswold Way National Trail. Our trains can carry a limited number of bicycles, making it a great option for exploring the surrounding countryside at a gentler pace.
Alight Here For…
Just a few minutes’ walk brings you to the tranquil ruins of Hailes Abbey, cared for by English Heritage. Once a major pilgrimage site, the abbey now offers peaceful gardens, atmospheric cloisters, and a small museum that tells its fascinating story.
The halt also makes an excellent point to join or leave the Cotswold Way, connecting you to scenic routes towards Winchcombe, Toddington, and the wider countryside.
